As McFly sang “It’s all about you, it’s all about you, baby!”

Be as kind to yourself as you would others, it’s not selfish to care for yourself, it is actually essential, as the old saying goes, ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’.
Taking time for yourself may make you feel uncomfortable, so instead reframe it as giving, or even gifting to yourself, a little time or space in-order to recharge your batteries as you deserve it.  Allowing yourself some self-care can help you to be more prepared and ready to help and support others.
Slow down and pay attention to how you are feeling. Allow yourself time to think about what you really need.
Self-Care can come in many different forms big or small.  If you are able to take a whole day to yourself then do it and don’t feel guilty about it.

Here are some ideas within the City Centre that you may like to try.

The Mana Spa experience at the Wave, the ultimate escape, a way to find some peace and restore your energy levels. The Mana Spa at the Wave have a variety of different treatments and experiences to choose from. You can even take a friend or loved one if you don’t feel like going alone.

On the other end of the spectrum simply taking yourself off for a nice relaxing bath is an easy way get some valuable ‘Me time’. Indulge yourself with some yummy bath treats from the Lush store and give yourself a bit of pampering. It is amazing how much doing just this can perk you up.
Swing by the Lush store in the Lower Precinct to check out some of their new products and as sampling is available again you can always try things to see what’s best for you.

Self-Care is also about finding ways to wind down and getting back to basics can be a great help to restore balance. When was the last time you took a break from the social media scroll and picked up a book?

The Nook Urban Retreat in the upper precinct located between H Samuel and Virgin Media is a cosy and inviting place where they encourage a more mindful approach. Offering a variety of different yoga styles, pilates and meditation, there is something for everyone. If you’ve never tried it, we would highly recommend you take a trip. If this isn’t for you, how about embracing your creative side with one of their calligraphy or art workshops.

Crafting really is another great way to unwind and get some quality time for yourself.
The ‘Craft On!’ sessions at the Belgrade Theatre (every Thursday between 1pm and 3pm) could be an ideal way to try something new that could become your new passion.  These sessions are run by needlecraft for wellbeing in conjunction with the Belgrade Theatre and include Crafts, Sewing Knitting and Crocheting.

Whatever you choose to do as your form of Self-Care this September, remember it’s important, pay attention to what you need and say yes to yourself…guilt free and enjoy.
