Organisers of the Coventry Festival of Running today revealed a totally new look for 2020, and a brand new website.

Event Organiser Millie McCaughrean, from Coventry University Students’ Union, said:

“We’ve been working on this rebrand for some time and are really excited to finally reveal it to you! Our new look aims to be more inclusive than our old branding and give each of our four races a unique identity whilst still staying strongly connected to the other races within the Festival of Running family.

There is truly something for everyone to take part in and we encourage as many people as possible to sign up and run for yourself, as part of a team or for your chosen charity.

Each race has community at its heart and celebrates bringing people together; from the racers on the start line and the wonderfully supportive crowds who come to cheer them along, to the staff and volunteers who keep the events running smoothly every year.”

Councillor Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, said:

Seeing something that launched in Coventry during our year as European City of Sport and Year of Wellbeing continue again next year is really special for us. We have got thousands of people active this year and to see the legacy continuing is fantastic.

“As a runner myself, I know how much hard work is put into the training for the races, so I can’t wait to cheer everybody along on the day.”

The Children’s Mile and Toddler Dash will take place around Coventry’s War Memorial Park on Sunday 22 March 2020. The 2019 event saw more than 2,000 local children take part, raising money for school projects and local charities. Entries for both events open early next year.

Sunday 5 April will see an expected 5000 runners take to the historic streets of Coventry in the 2.5k Wheelchair, Coventry 5k and Coventry Half. Last year more than 4000 runners took part, representing more than 50 charities and raising over £100,000 for the event’s partner charities: Zoe’s Place, Myton Hospice, Penny Appeal, and University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.

This year Festival of Running welcome an additional charity partner as SWFT Charity – the official charity of South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust – joins the team.
