What is Coventry BID

Background

Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) is a partnership between the businesses located within the city centre and Coventry City Council. All parties vote on and contribute financially to projects aimed at promoting, developing and elevating Coventry City Centre as a place to work, visit and do business. Projects range from additional marketing of the city centre through to deep cleansing of the city centre. All projects delivered must be clearly over and above the services businesses would ordinarily expect to be provided by the council.

To ensure the BID is delivering results for its contributors, a vote takes place every 5 years to decide whether the scheme should continue. Each business has one vote and in order for the scheme to be renewed there must be a clear majority by both the number of votes received and the total aggregate rateable value of the votes. Both of which must be greater than 50% in favour.

Coventry BID is now in its 3rd Term and will operate until April 2018.
